This piece reimagines the illuminated manuscript beyond its Western European framework, drawing from the syncretic traditions of 16th-century Mughal India, where Islamic aesthetics were employed to depict Hindu mythology. In contrast to today’s narratives of cultural erasure, this work explores historical hybridity as an alternative to colonization. The evolving generative video, shaped in real-time by Robin Rhodes’ improvised double bass performance, resists fixity—mirroring identity’s fluid, rebellious nature. An automated application which uses the OpenBaltimore API to generate a list of all the bus stops in Baltimore City, posted hourly with a Google Maps Street View image, in order to create a visual archive of the city’s public transportation infrastructure. Using the Bluesky API, users are able to interact with the data, and add their own images and comments to the archive.
